Belief, Religion and People

Belief sets the outlook and approach one would take in course of an action. For example, a person who believes that there is no hope left in life commits suicide. Religion on the other hand, is typically set of beliefs and rituals which define it. It is common for people to ascribe to a religion but not believe in some or all of it's belief. Religion identifies perhaps the pool of people you are likely to interact with, although belief when openly expressed forces stronger identity among its adherents and defines their collective course of action. This emphasizes importance of having correct belief, as it determines the goal a person would pursue, approach one would take and ultimately determine success and failure.

Belief which distinguishes people, essentially relates to unseen and the greatest unseen, which none can deny is Allah سبحانه و تعالى, Creator of heavens and the earth; other one being life after death. Correct belief about these causes a person to strive in prayer and charity. But if belief in Allah and life after death is corrupt or lacking, then corresponding actions will also be corrupt. In order for belief in unseen to be correct, information about it must be coming from Allah سبحانه و تعالى, One Who knows all things - seen and unseen.

People are broadly of three types with regards to the correct belief:

First are those who believe in Allah, pray to Him and give from their wealth, believe in all the revelations sent by Allah to mankind and believe in life after death. These are one are rightly guided and will be successful.

Second are those who reject it and disbelieve in it. It is as if their hearts and ears are sealed, and have been blinded by glitters of life - now they don't understand. These are promised great torment.

And last are those who profess belief in Allah and life after death, but in reality they do not believe in it. They lie and try to deceive those around them, but they deceive none save themselves. For them is a painful torment.

May Allah make us of the rightly guided and successful.

A brief history of gods

And they said 'Never leave your gods, and never leave Wadd , nor Suwa' nor Yaghooth or Ya'ooq or Nasr '... (Al-Qur'an 71: 23) Shortly after the dawn of humanity, people were already affirming their love and allegiance to their gods, when Nooh (1) عليه السلام came to them asking to shun these gods. They enumerated their gods as an act of defiance - Wadd, Suwa', Yaghooth, Ya'ooq and Nasr . These were names of noble men who had lived before them, known for piety, loved by people and had following among them. When they died, Satan advised people to make their images and statues to remind themselves of their goodness and to motivate themselves to be like them. As generations passed, purpose of these images and statues was forgotten and the knowledge of what these noble men had preached faded away. At this point, Satan inspired people saying that ...

O Devotee of The Christ!

O devotee of The Christ! We have question, (1) seeking answer from one with comprehension. When God died, by deeds of a nation... they put him to death! What God is this, then? Did it please him, with him, what they had done? If they did please him, for them is good news, then! And if they displeased him, with what they had done... their might prevailed over his, then?! The Listener, The Answer-er of invocation... Without God, did continue the creation? Did cease...

Religions - Man Made or Divine?

One often hears these remarks about religions, that they are all products of human imagination or fear. Quite contrary to this, is the fact that, most people do not like to be "tied down" by religious rules. If one were to look closely into these religions, especially their scriptures, one would notice underlying similarities in them. Most noticeable is the existence of a Creator and that people will be held accountable, in life after death, for their actions and will be rewarded or punished accordingly. The concept of praying to God is so central to all religions, that it is implausible that people around the world - geographically and linguistically separated - came up with ideas so similar. It is not uncommon to find phrases and concepts which are strikingly similar between different religions. Also very common is presence of key figures, who are central to these religions and are role models for their followers. An interesting ritual, which ha...
